Intentional Worshippers community in worship
More Than Music

A family of worshippers

Intentional Worshippers (IW) is a growing worship community founded on the desire to bring people together through Spirit-led worship, genuine fellowship, and a shared commitment to serving God.

Based in Nigeria, the group exists to nurture worshippers who understand that worship is more than singing, musical ability, or standing before an audience. It is a lifestyle, a responsibility, and an expression of a heart devoted to God.

At its core, Intentional Worshippers is built around a simple conviction: worship should be intentional. It should come from a place of sincerity, understanding, and a willingness to grow spiritually, musically, and personally. The group seeks to create an environment where people can develop their gifts while also building the character, relationships, and sense of purpose needed to use those gifts meaningfully.

01 — Why We Exist

Our vision and purpose

Intentional Worshippers envisions a community of worshippers who are united by their love for God, their commitment to worship, and their desire to grow together. The goal is not simply to assemble talented singers or produce beautiful music. It is to build a lasting family where people can learn, support one another, discover their potential, and become more intentional about their walk with God.

Music provides an important foundation for the group’s activities, but the vision extends beyond musical performances. IW aims to cultivate a culture of fellowship, accountability, encouragement, and mutual support. Every member should feel that they belong to something meaningful, not merely that they have joined another singing group.

The group recognises that people are at different stages of their spiritual and musical journeys. Some may have considerable experience, while others are still discovering their voices and developing their abilities. What matters is a willingness to learn, contribute, grow, and remain committed to the shared vision.

02 — How We Worship

Our approach to worship

Intentional Worshippers embraces worship as both a personal expression of faith and a collective experience. Through rehearsals, song covers, musical collaborations, and other creative activities, the group seeks to communicate messages that encourage people and direct their attention towards God.

The group’s musical expression is not limited to one language, style, or cultural background. While Nigerian gospel music and the richness of local worship traditions remain important, IW is open to diverse expressions of Christian worship that communicate the same sincerity and spiritual depth.

The intention is to create music that is meaningful, excellent, and capable of connecting with people across different backgrounds. Each song is an opportunity to serve, communicate, and encourage rather than simply showcase vocal ability.

Excellence is part of the journey. The group understands that meaningful ministry requires preparation, discipline, collaboration, and a willingness to improve. Members are encouraged to take rehearsals seriously, develop their abilities, and contribute to a shared standard of quality while remembering the purpose behind the music.

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”John 4:24 · Holy Bible
03 — How We Relate

Building a family, not just a group

One of the defining ideas behind Intentional Worshippers is that its members should relate to one another as a family. Talent may bring people together, but genuine relationships, shared values, and commitment are what help a community endure.

IW seeks to create room for members to encourage one another, celebrate progress, navigate difficulties, and support one another beyond musical activities. The vision recognises that people have responsibilities, personal challenges, and different seasons of life. A strong community should make room for growth while maintaining healthy expectations and a shared sense of responsibility.

This vision also requires intentional participation. Building a family takes more than belonging to a group chat or appearing at rehearsals occasionally. It requires communication, dependability, initiative, and a willingness to contribute even when there is no immediate personal benefit.

As the group develops, it continues to work towards strengthening its internal relationships, improving coordination, and creating an environment where members understand both the opportunities and responsibilities that come with being part of IW.

04 — Where We Are Going

Growth and the road ahead

Intentional Worshippers is still growing, and its journey is a work in progress. The founders recognise that building a sustainable worship community requires more than enthusiasm. It requires planning, structure, consistency, creativity, and the patience to establish a strong foundation before pursuing bigger opportunities.

Current efforts include developing the group’s online presence, preparing and sharing musical content, improving its communication, and exploring ways to reach more people. Its digital platforms provide opportunities to share worship, document progress, connect with new audiences, and make the group’s vision more accessible.

Looking ahead, IW hopes to develop a stronger community, produce more meaningful musical content, create opportunities for members to grow, and establish partnerships that support its mission. As opportunities arise, the group intends to approach them with preparation and a clear understanding of its purpose.

The aim is to build something that can last: a community with a recognisable identity, a meaningful body of work, and relationships that extend beyond individual projects or performances.

05 — Our Promise

Our commitment

Intentional Worshippers is committed to pursuing worship with sincerity, developing its members with intention, and building a community grounded in faith, fellowship, and shared responsibility.

The journey is not without challenges. Like any growing group, IW is learning how to balance vision with execution, talent with discipline, and individual circumstances with collective commitment. These challenges are part of the process of becoming stronger and more effective.

We do not claim to have everything figured out. We are committed to learning, improving, and taking deliberate steps towards the vision entrusted to us.

Intentional Worshippers is more than a name or a collection of voices. It is a growing family of people choosing to worship intentionally, grow together, and build something meaningful for God’s glory.
